We had a great time at farm day this year.  The weather was stormy in the afternoon but we had a great morning  for all the kids (and parents) to meet the alpacas and learn about these wonderful animals.  We also had a very informative  spinning  demonstration, balloons, tattoos, and refreshments.  We want to thank everyone for coming out and look forward to seeing you next year!  We would like to thank Beverly Henry for all of these great pictures.

As Amber heads to the AOBA 2009 National/World Alpaca Show in Cleveland, Ohio Marantha delivers her beautiful female cria early!  Luckily there were no problems and Pam and Bill took care of the whole process.  The cria is as fiesty as any we have had born and is growing up fast!

2009 Shearing

by southernstar, under Southern Star Farm

Well, it is that time of year again, shearing time!  The alpacas feel much better with all that fiber off.  They are so fun to watch as they go roll in the grass to scratch their backs!

This picture shows how the alpacas are restrained for safety during shearing.
